The semester is about to start. People are coming to Lahti, calendars are filling up, and at LahtiES, this semester also starts with a new face on the board, and a few things we’ve been working on are finally getting ready to leave the planning stage.
Meet our new Events & Projects Lead
Shortly before the end of the previous semester, we opened the search for someone ready to take ownership of our events and projects.
Now, that spot has been filled.
Arlis Arto Puidet has been elected as a replacement board member and will take on the role of Events & Projects Lead for the remainder of the current board term.
His role is pretty much what the name suggests: helping turn ideas into things that actually happen. From coordinating events and keeping projects moving to working with the rest of the board and our community, there is plenty waiting ahead.
And the timing couldn’t be much better.
With students returning to Lahti and a new semester beginning, we already have a few things in the works.
Something is about to KickStart
One of the biggest things coming this autumn is something we haven’t properly introduced yet.
KickStart Fest.
We won’t give everything away just yet, but expect several days built around meeting people, trying something new and getting a closer look at entrepreneurship, without needing to call yourself an entrepreneur first.
More details are coming very soon.
For now, consider this the first hint.
Breakfast is back
Some things, on the other hand, are making a return.
Our Breakfast Club is coming back for the new semester with its bi-weekly morning meetups.
The idea remains simple: coffee, food and people around the same table.
No complicated programme and no need to arrive with a business idea or a perfect elevator pitch. Breakfast Club is designed to give students a regular place to meet, talk and start the day together.
Sometimes the best conversations need little more than coffee and somewhere to sit, you know.
And something completely new
Events aren’t the only thing we’re working on.
This semester we’re also introducing Griffin Production, a brand-new project under LahtiES for people curious about filmmaking, storytelling and content.
The idea is to bring together students interested in creating cinematic content around fascinating topics, while exploring how strong visual storytelling can become a powerful tool for content marketing.
You don’t need to arrive as a professional filmmaker. Curiosity, ideas and a willingness to create are a pretty good place to start.
A semester taking shape
So yes, Things are moving again.
A new Projects Lead has joined the board. Breakfast Club is returning. Griffin Production is getting started. And KickStart Fest is waiting just around the corner.
There is more behind the scenes that we’ll share when the time is right.
For now, welcome to the new semester, and welcome to the team, Arlis!
See you around.
